One hundred fifty years ago during long trips in carriages along Russian roads people experienced severe motion sickness. Tea had been already brought to Russia from China, so people were offered tea at roadhouses. To get rid of nausea, travelers asked for something sour or salty. Pickles and sauerkraut are not a good match for tea, and a slice of lemon was to everyone’s taste. Consequently a drink named “Russian tea” was invented.
