White cacao, also known as porcelain cacao, originated in Peru, South America. It is cultivated in the north of the country, mainly in Piura region. Within the region, the district of Chulucanas is considered to have the best conditions for growing this variety of cacao.

This cacao type, also known as “Blanco porcelana” or “Cacao especial”, grows on small-scale farmers’ plots below 1000 meters of altitude. It requires average daily temperature between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius.
