Copuazu is known as Brazilian cocoa in the Amazon and other jungles of Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, scientifically known as Theobroma grandiflorum, a close relative of Theobroma Cocoa. The fruit is valued for its tropical flavor with the notes of chocolate, banana, pear, passion fruit and pineapple, that’s what monkeys love it for. In the language of the Amazonian indigenous people “copuazu” means “Food of the Gods” – due to the incredible range of useful properties. We found the fruit of this amazing tree in Peru and made chocolate from it. Try it and taste it!
